We’re thrilled to share another great resource for shelters and rescues across the U.S. – the Ruff Start Rescue ComPAWtibility Match Program handbook.
Ruff Start Rescue received a PEDIGREE Foundation $100,000 DOGS RULE.™ grant in 2019 to support its ComPAWtibility Match Program. The DOGS RULE.™ grant, which provides funds over two years, is designed to help a shelter or rescue develop an innovative initiative that could become a best practice model for organizations across the country.
Using the funds provided in 2019 and 2020, Ruff Start Rescue worked to develop more efficient foster, adoption and post-adoption processes that could lead to more successful dog adoptions. The goal was to enhance interactions with potential fosters and adopters, as well as existing adopters, to create a supportive volunteer network.
Now, Ruff Start Rescue is sharing its learnings with a handbook that highlights the programs and resources it developed. It includes:
- The ComPAWtibility Match Quiz that Ruff Start Rescue developed, which helps people interested in adopting search for a great match
- Information about the rescue’s Matchmaker Program, which helps track available dogs and connect potential adopters with a good fit
- Tools used by the program including virtual home visits, virtual adoption events and a text-based program to quickly reach foster volunteers
- Details about Ruff Start Rescue’s post-adoption support program, including an email welcome series and mini grants for special needs
We’re so delighted PEDIGREE Foundation could support the development of these best practices and make the ComPAWtibility Match Program handbook available to our shelter and rescue network. You can download a copy below.
